NBA: T.J. Ford Retiring After Latest Injury (BLOG) (Mar 11th-17th)
As a pointgod myself, T.J. Ford was a major influence in the 2000's for me in both high school and college along with players like Will Blaylock, Omar Cooke, Nate Robinson, Lou Williams and more. In my opinion TJ was always the best pure point out of the group. He ran Texas like Peyton Manning ran the Colts and soon enough the Broncos. Ford got his opportunity to go pro and play for teams like the Bucks, Pacers, Raptors and Spurs most recently. During his NBA career TJ had suffered some horrific injuries including breaking his back. I can't relate to Ford on a talent level or injury experience but I can in size and being able to play in a tall man's game. You have to be strategic and demanding, make the game easy and fun for your teammates and be a leader. I felt I had to write about this story as one of my influences as a young basketball player NBA career is cut short due to injury. No matter what way it ends, at some point it has to end. My blessings go out to TJ Ford and his family because he can still be involved in the game and teach young point guard those #Pointgod skills but will never be able to display them on the biggest stage in the world. Be strategic and demanding, make the game easy and fun for your teammates and be a leader. Salute!
